The Area Agency on Aging 10B, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization specializing in helping older adults meet their long term care goals. We provide programs to assist older adults to remain in the community instead of in nursing facilities, as well as family caregiver support programs, consumer protection and education, Information on long-term care, and more.

Since 1967, the County of Summit Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (CSBMR/DD) has been providing services and supports to eligible individuals and their families. Over the years, the array of services and supports for people with disabilities has grown. Currently, the CSBMR/DD serves more than 2,900 people with disabilities in Summit County. Services are available throughout a person's life, Early Intervention programs for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and transition services for students with developmental disabilities to vocational, habilitation and retirement programs for adults with developmental disabilities. As we look to the future, one thing that will remain the same is that the CSBMR/DD will continue to provide those it serves with the opportunity to work, live, learn, play and participate as equal citizens in their communities.

The Arc of Summit and Portage Counties began the earliest services for people with mental retardation in Summit County in 1949 in response to the concerns of parents of children with mental retardation. Today we have expanded our services to include all people with developmental disabilities (which include people with mental retardation) and function as an advocate, support group and resource center. The Arc is the only social service agency that provides pure advocacy services for citizens with mental retardation and developmental disabilities within the boundaries of the counties served.
